We are diligent and proud of acquiring and maintaining the many credentials and licenses that are required of a top Landscaping firm. As Little Rock Arkansas is one of our major markets, we are Arkansas State Plant Board Licensed. The Arkansas State Plant Board License is a certification that proves you have the knowledge and experience necessary to work with plants. About the Arkansas State Plant Board License The Arkansas State Plant Board is a government agency that regulates the use and sale of plants in the state. It was created in 1916, when Arkansas passed its first law regulating plant sales. The Arkansas State Plant Board licenses all nurseries operating within the state and inspects them regularly to make sure they're following regulations regarding proper labeling, disposal of waste material and other important matters. Nursery owners must also follow strict rules regarding how they handle chemicals used on their crops; these include keeping records of what chemicals were applied where and when they were used (or whether they were not used at all). The board also regulates the sale of plants and seeds by consumers, making sure that those who sell them are licensed to do so. It can investigate any nursery or plant seller suspected of breaking the law and has broad powers to enforce its decisions against offenders. Arkansas State Plant Board Requirements You must be 18 years old. You must have a high school diploma or GED, or be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program. You must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident with work authorization that allows you to work in the United States (e.g., H1B visa). To learn more about our lawn care services and to schedule an appointment with your local technician, please contact us today! Trimming Services Trimming is a critical part of lawn care. You can have the best-looking grass in the neighborhood, but if it is too long or overgrown, it will not look nearly as good. Trimming helps keep your lawn looking healthy and green while keeping it free from weeds and pests that could affect its health. The best time to trim is during spring or fall when temperatures are not too hot or cold yet (but not right after a frost). Handheld trimmers work well on small patches of grass around flower beds or trees; electric models are better suited for larger areas like driveways where you need more power behind each stroke than manual devices offer. Trimming should be done regularly so that no one area becomes too thick with growth while others stay thinned out from previous cuts back down again -- this prevents uneven growth patterns across different parts of your yard which may cause some spots not being able to absorb nutrients properly through photosynthesis and could also cause problems with drainage. Regular maintenance helps keep your lawn looking healthy, green and free of weeds and pests that could affect its health. Pruning Services Pruning is a maintenance service that keeps your trees and shrubs healthy. It can be done at any time of year, but it is best to prune during the dormant season when plants are not growing. Pruning can be done by hand or with a machine depending on the size of your trees, shrubs, or hedges. Pruning removes dead or diseased branches to prevent further damage from insects and disease; it also promotes dense growth by removing extra shoots from branches that have grown too long, as well as removing suckers (sprouts) that grow below ground [...]

Pugh’s Earthworks is a Premiere Customer First Commercial Landscaping Business

Pugh's Earthworks I recently ran across an article from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) that spoke to the importance of proper etiquette when it comes to Commercial Landscaping. Like any industry, treating customers like they are the most important is critical to any sustainable business model. Pugh's Earthworks is a premiere Commercial Landscaping Business in the Mid-South. Customers that utilize our services not only receive top quality services, but they also receive the respect and proper manners they deserve. The article was a good reminder that manner's matter. When you read the testimonials from the Pugh's Earthworks customers, it is clear our team fully embraces that fact. Below is an example: Testimonials “Act of Kindness.  So much of the time we only complain, but today I want to let you know of an extreme act of kindness expressed to me.  I was blowing the leaves off my carport and off my driveway when all of a sudden 8 young men with leave blowers came over and they blew the leaves off my entire front yard and added them to the ones they were cleaning up.  It took them less than 5 minutes, but I will remember this for the rest of my life.  We are elderly & my husband is a disabled veteran so I am sure you can tell how much this helped me.  Kudos to Pugh’s for hiring such compassionate & hard-working young men!” P. Harper Greenbrook The Pugh's Earthworks management team organizes periodic training classes for all employees. These cover the basics of safety, equipment handling and of course the proper interaction with all valuable customers. According to the NALP article, below are some of the basic principles a well-run service company like Pugh's Earthworks always follows: Commercial Landscaping Business Be Courteous This is the most basic level of etiquette all your employees should practice. Teach them to always be aware of people and train them to wave or smile at the customer or even passersby. Throttling down a blower or string trimmer as a neighbor walk by is a sign of respect. Your crews should know to behave on jobsite and refrain from horseplay or obscene language. Body language is also important. Teach your team members to make eye contact with the client when they’re speaking. This lets the customer know you are giving them your full attention. Discourage fidgeting or having a closed-off stance as this gives off the impression that you are not engaged in the conversation. Be Personal It means a lot to be known and taking the time to address your customers by their names when you are on their property helps them feel like they are not just a number in your book of business. If your crews struggle to remember all the names, provide them a cheat sheet they can look at before starting a job. Taking the time to look over the property and inform the client of any potential issues you see also shows you care about [...]

Pugh’s Earthworks Prepares Commercial Properties for the Winter

Pugh's Earthworks Pugh's Earthworks services many commercial landscaping clients in the mid-south. We are a Certified Commercial Landscaping Company that offers the best year-round services. The major markets we serve are Memphis, Nashville, Jackson TN, Littlerock and Southaven MS. This is the perfect time of year to have our landscape technicians spruce up your commercial property for the winter ahead. The leaves are dropping, grass is going dormant, and flowers are starting to wither. Preparing your commercial lawn and surrounding areas for winter, including flower beds, trees, and shrubs, is a critical strategy for maintaining beautiful landscapes throughout the year. So, there is much to get done in the fall season to prepare for that. Plants and seedlings need to be mulched while lawns need to be cleared of all the falling leaves. Plus, with winds and the start of rain, there is debris that should be removed plus trees and shrubs have to be pruned to get rid of any dead wood. This is also the time to winterize your commercial irrigation system to protect it from the cold elements. Certified Commercial Landscaping Company There are numerous actions that the Pugh's Earthworks team will take to ensure that your property looks clean and organized during the winter.  Below are some of the things we will address for you so that you can rest easy and know your property is well prepared. We know you want to keep your commercial lawn and surroundings looking beautiful throughout the season and into winter: Deadhead flowering plants because this will help keep them healthy. Remove all weeds and debris in the area regularly. This may be something that has to be done more frequently until the trees have shed all their leaves. Debris that also needs to be cleared includes branches and other items that get blown around during this season. Prune plants to create a tidy landscape and sense of order to your commercial surroundings. This also keeps the plants healthy, so they are ready to re-grow in the spring season. Pull all weeds that tend to make your landscape look messy and block your flowers and ornamental plants from putting on a spectacular display. Regularly check for insect damage so that no infestations get out of control. Edge and trim grass areas and mow at a height that keeps it all looking consistent. This regular mowing throughout the fall season will also help strengthen the roots and provide a way for new growth in the spring. Taking care of commercial lawn and surroundings requires a lot of time, which you may not have. Yet, you want your office building, apartment complex, or other commercial structure to look pleasing to the eye as well as neat and tidy. After all, it reflects on your business and impacts those that visit or use these commercial areas on a daily basis. Protect Your Trees from the Cold Winter with the Help of Pugh’s Earthworks

Pugh's Earthworks Pugh's Earthworks is a top tier Commercial Landscape Company in the Mid-South. Our home office is Memphis, and we have other offices in Nashville, Jackson TN, Littlerock and Southaven MS. We have many satisfied customers as our mission is to make the customer's needs, the top priority. It is not too soon to start thinking about cold weather proofing your commercial property. This includes valuable trees. These are expensive to replace and take years to grow. Unlike humans or wildlife, trees are stationary. There is no place for them to go to get warm. Nature did provide them with the ability to shed leaves. This allows them to require less water. Then nature does allow them to go through some cell changes but at the end of the day, they count on humans to take care of them. That is where a professional and certified landscape technician can assist. Pugh's Earthworks employs a talented team of experienced and certified landscape technicians. Below are some of the important steps our team will address to protect your trees: Root Protection - Watering is a crucial step. Prior to first ground freeze, our team will be sure that ample water is applied around the tree soil. After the ground freezes, it is not necessary to water and the water applied prior to the freeze allows the tree to absorb and retain lots of moisture. The second step is to mulch around the tree. Roots can be damaged if temperatures drop to low like 15 degrees Fahrenheit for example. Pugh's Earthworks will apply mulch where needed. In addition, during the sidewalk and road clearing process for deicing, they will take extra precautions to ensure road salt does not get into the area that could be absorbed by the tree roots. Salt is bad for the roots and if absorbed into the trees structure can severely stunt the tree or kill it. Wrap the Trunk - A unique problem is something called sunscald. This occurs when the daytime temperature is warm, but the nighttime temperature is freezing or below. This can cause damage to the tissue of the tree. Pugh's Earthworks will use a special commercial grade plastic tree guard wrap to protect your trees from sunscald. Another benefit of the wrap is that it keeps deer from damaging the tree trunk when they use it to smooth their antlers. There are lots of deer in the markets Pugh's serves. Pruning - Late Fall and Winter is a great time to prune trees. One thing you do not want is for ice to build up on weak or damaged limbs. They will surely snap under the weight of the ice and that can cause damage to the tree. The Pugh's Earthworks team will carefully examine each tree on your property and remove dead or weak branches that could be problematic during the harsh cold winter.   Shop Now for Gallery of Services     Pugh’s Earthworks is strongly committed to [...]
