Pugh’s Earthworks is busy applying Spring lawn fertilizer for our commercial customers

Pugh's Earthworks Pugh's Earthworks provides commercial landscape design and maintenance services throughout Tennessee, including Memphis, Jackson, and Nashville. We have five commercial landscape service operations in three states, including landscapes and service lawns and landscaping in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our services include landscape design, landscape and lawn maintenance, pest control, and seasonal services like snow and ice removal. As part of the regular maintenance we provide businesses and residences, it is important to regularly fertilize and feed a lawn and surrounding landscape with fertilizer. Doing so in the spring provides a way to help strengthen roots and promote essential growth for grass, shrubs, and more. With the spring season just starting, it's a critical time to get fertilizing done. This is because grasses start putting their energy into root development. It's a good time to give grass a helping hand. But, you don't want to overdo the fertilizing because grass and plants could use the help throughout the season to sustain that same level of energy to get all the growing they need to get done. Therefore, we tend to do more fertilizing during the mid to late spring. We adhere to a strict process for fertilizing your lawn because we know this optimizes results while minimizing any damage that fertilizing mistakes can cause. Our philosophies to veer on the side of less fertilizer than too much. This will help to eliminate the chance of burning those fragile new blades of grass. We also use equipment that helps us spread the fertilizer evenly. The fertilizer is applied in a crisscross manner to ensure complete coverage. All of our landscape professionals wear protective gear to keep their eyes and skin safe from the fertilizer. We also focus on clean up to leave your commercial lawn or residential lawn looking as tidy as possible. That often involves cleaning up excess fertilizer from driveways, patios, and sidewalks. We also schedule your irrigation system to work in partnership with the spring feeding of fertilizer to get the best results possible from this part of our landscape service. Pugh's Earthworks The certified landscape professionals at Pugh's Earthworks will help any commercial property owner with an optimum sprinkler system design. After careful review of the terrain, soil conditions, types of grass planted and climate for the region, you will be assured that during the periods of critical watering, your sprinkler system will properly handle the job. Consultation with our customers is invaluable and we want to be sure that we answer all questions before and after installation. Customers may also visit our Q&A link on our website for fast and accurate answers to all types of Commercial Landscape questions. Below is an example of some Q&A regarding sprinkler systems: Q: How will I benefit from an in-ground sprinkler system? A: Since hand watering is done on a random basis, and at irregular intervals, an automatic sprinkler system will actually, in most cases, use less water. It will also disperse the water at an even rate, and for a predetermined amount of time. This allows you to water sunny and shady areas for different periods of time, and to water when it is most efficient. One obvious benefit is the ability to continue a watering program while you are away on vacation, etc. Q: How long does a system take to put in? A: It would depend on the area that is trying to be covered. An average size lawn (@15,000 sq. ft.) can usually be done in one full day, depending on the situation. A large country lawn can take anywhere from two to four days. On average, we spend one to two days on a job. Q: What is a back flow device, and why do I need one on my sprinkler system? A: A back flow device is generally a brass assembly that will prevent any water from the sprinkler system from getting into the drinking water supply, and are required by all municipalities. There are many different types of these, and each individual municipality has differing requirements for the installation. Q: What type of maintenance does the system require? A: All systems need to be winterized at the end of the season. This is done by attaching an air hose to a fitting on the water line, and blowing all of the water out of the system. Most people that we install systems for simply turn it back on in the springtime themselves. We do offer the service of opening systems for the season. The quality of the products used initially, and of the overall installation, play an important part in the long term service of the system. The better the products and installation, the less trouble you should expect in the future.   Sprinkler Installation About Pugh's Earthworks Pugh's Earthworks provides commercial landscape design and maintenance services throughout Tennessee, including Memphis, Jackson, and Nashville. Spring is the time to let the Certified Pros at Pugh’s Earthworks help with shrubs and flowers for your commercial property

Pugh's Earthworks Spring will be here in just two weeks. Pugh's Earthworks is preparing their planting schedules to start planting shrubs and flowers. Our commercial clients will have the most colorful and attractive landscapes in town. Shrubs are an ideal item to add because they add texture, depth, and scope to your landscape. They can be natural dividers, too, to create different sections to your commercial landscape or residential yard. The professionals at Pugh's Earthworks will consult with our customers and mutually decide on the type of shrub to best fit in with the landscape theme desired. There are flowering and non-flowering shrubs that work well in different growing zones. As your landscape partner, we can recommend shrubs that work well for your environment, including considering how much shade or sun that area may offer. Planting shrubs involves a specific process to make sure they can adapt and thrive where they are planted. Make the soil moist  before digging a hole for the shrub.  From there, dig a hole that is three or four times as wide as the container the shrub came in. However, the hole should be about the same size as the height of the containers. Fill the hole with water and then let it drain out before putting the shrub in the hole you dug. Put half the soil back into the hole and pat it down. Now, add the rest of the soil and compact that lightly. Add water and mulch around the top of the soil. For the first two months after planting the shrub, water it at least once a week if it hasn't rained. If this sounds like more work than you think you can do or you would prefer a professional to plant and manage your shrubs and landscape, then contact us. We would love to work with you and design and maintain your commercial or residential landscape. Colorful Shrubs and Flowers Pugh's Earthworks provides commercial landscape design and maintenance services throughout Tennessee, including Memphis, Jackson, and Nashville. We have five commercial landscape service operations in three states, including landscapes and service lawns and landscaping in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our monthly services include landscape design and maintenance, customized to your needs, budget, and seasonal situation. One thing we offer our commercial clients is an online Q&A. Below is one example regarding landscape design: Q: After I have decided upon the landscape rooms of my design, what are my next steps in the design process? A: Now that you have thought about your property in terms of rooms and established some priorities, it’s time to walk around your property and inventory and evaluate it. Doing so will help you objectively consider its positive aspects and limitations. There may be some things that are not possible once the property (site) is inventoried, while new possibilities may emerge. In any case, your design priorities must fit the site, or you will have problems. For example, planting a rose garden (a priority) in a shaded [...]
