Here are five benefits to opting to work with a commercial landscape design and maintenance company like Pugh's Earthworks: 1. Creates an attractive look that matches your brand First impressions are everything as a prospect drives up to your business. Whether it's in a retail center, office building, or standalone property, it has to look nice and well-maintained. That's because how it looks provides an impression of what the business might be like. You want them to stop, park, and come in and do business with you rather than keep on driving. A commercial landscape company knows how to create an inviting look to draw customers in. 2. Helps you become an eco-friendly business You may not know how to change your landscape so it uses less water or takes advantage of eco-friendly practices. That's when it makes sense to leave it to the commercial landscape professional who understands how to use native plants and design an eco-friendly landscape that contributes to the environment rather than takes away precious natural resources. 3. Increases productivity You can focus more on your business and less on the time-consuming activity of taking care of your landscape. Plus, will be inspired and motivated by the attractive landscape to get more done. Working with a commercial  landscape design professional, you can also add things like a patio and outdoor seating to encourage employees to go outside and enjoy their breaks, so they come back refreshed and ready to work. They may even enjoy working outside when weather permits and get more done by doing so. 4. Raises commercial property value. Similar to a residential property, the more attractive your commercial property is the more valuable it becomes should you go to sell it, lease it, or take out a loan. A commercial landscape company can help you add features like lighting, hardscape, and other features that do the most to raise value. 5. Attracts more customers.  A professional commercial landscaping company can help you attract more customers that are drawn to your business just from the inviting fountain, lighting, seating, and array of flowers, greenery, and even lawn. This attractive and natural look is a way to draw people in who might have otherwise continued to walk on by. Trim Your Limbs For Healthier Trees

Pugh's Earthworks The Best Commercial Landscape Services in Memphis Healthy trees are ones that have their limbs trimmed on a regular basis. Plus, it makes the landscape look great and ensures a higher level of safety that limbs or branches won't fall unexpectedly. As a commercial landscape company, we have deep expertise and years of experience maintaining trees. Here are some tips to follow for trimming those limbs: General Tree Trimming A general rule of thumb is to trim or prune a tree during its dormant season. Be aware of the size of the branches that you need to remove.  Only trim branches that have weak, V-shaped, and narrow angles. Be sure to keep the branches that have strong, U-shaped angles. Then, lateral branches should be between one-half and three-quarters the diameter of the stem where it attaches to the tee. Otherwise, these branches should be removed.   Tree Pruning Tips Crown thinning involves thinning out the limbs located near the crown of the tree. When you work on this area of the tree, keep the lateral branches as evenly spaced as possible. You'll also need to remove the branches that cross or run against others. Crown raising is a way to provide clearance for pedestrians. When you do this pruning process, keep the live branches on at least two-thirds of the tree’s height. Crown reduction involves removing the whole branch.   Tree Trimming Techniques Before trimming anything, identify the branch collar, which grows from the stem tissue at the bottom base of the branch. Also, look for the branch ridge, which is on the upper surface. Always cut outside the branch bark ridge and angle the cut down and away from the stem.  This technique can also be used to remove dead branches and trim back living branches.   Pugh's Earthworks is one of the largest landscape design, installation and maintenance firms in the Mid South area, including cities in Tennessee like Memphis, Jackson, and Nashville as well as Little Rock, Arkansas. We sculpt your landscape and choose the right flowers, plants, lighting, hardscape features, seating, irrigation and water features, and more to help you make that great first impression.     Here are some of the things we do to help create this extraordinary commercial landscape for your business: During spring it’s important to make a plan and get your landscape ready to grow and shine during the warmer months. These tips can help plan out which areas of your landscape need the most concentration. Check out the existing landscape We like to get a picture of what you have, including what works and what might need help. For example, we look for debris or broken pavement so we can fix any unsafe conditions. Then, we examine what we might change and create a picture of what that would look like. Inspect your irrigation systems. We check out your existing irrigation system. For example, we might recommend that you upgrade your system to a drip irrigation system to save water. We take care of the clean-up. To make way for the new commercial landscape, we have to remove all the debris, such as leaves, branches, and twigs. Then, we can get to work on the improved commercial landscape we've got planned. Fertilize and plant. We then go to work on fertilizing and planting what we've designed and what you agree to, preparing to add all the plants, flowers, and greenery you want to feature. Add any extra features. Finally, we add in anything else that makes your commercial landscape more beautiful, such as spotlights or other lighting features, hardscape, seating, and more. Avoid Planting Trees and Shrubs in the Heat of Summer

Pugh's Earthworks is one of the largest landscape design, installation and maintenance firms in the Mid South area. Our clients include some of the premier office buildings, hotels, hospitals, churches and cemeteries in the cities we operate. In addition to the commercial customers we serve, we also provide landscape services for Home Owners Associations (HOAs), Condo Owners Associations (COA’s) and individual residential homeowners. Pugh's Earthworks The Best Landscape Services in Memphis There is no denying that summer has arrived. That heat and humidity say it all. For those of us that work out in that heat, we know how we feel: wilted and dehydrated (if we are not careful). Just that feeling alone tells you why you should avoid planting trees and shrubs in the heat of the summer. Imagine how they must feel and then on top of that trying to get acclimated to new soil and put roots down. It's not a formula for successful planting. Instead, you may want to forego any planting until the heat of the summer diminishes and wait until the fall to provide a better opportunity for the trees and shrubs to get settled in before the winter weather arrives. This is an ideal time to rethink your commercial landscape and explore more drought-resistant plants. You may also want to consider a drip system or other water-friendly measures. Our commercial landscape designers can also work with you on redesigning your landscape to offer something different. Or, we can suggest other ways to protect your landscape from the heat and light intensity of the sun. This includes inspecting your irrigation system, mulching, and re-setting your watering scheduling. Contact us today to find out how we can help you keep your lawn and landscape cool and lush all summer long!
