Hire Pugh’s Earthworks for year round health maintenance of your commercial property
Pugh's Earthworks The weather is slowly starting to cool. It will not be too much longer and the leaves will be turning color and falling to to ground. The professional landscaping services provided by Pugh's Earthworks are a year round contract. Every season requires strategic processes to ensure that commercial landscapes remain healthy and vibrant. One process that is vital is the removal of leaves that fall. Absent the services of a professional landscaping firm, this can be a monumental task. Leaves falling on the ground are a message that fall has arrived. And, while the colors are beautiful and the piles of leaves are fun to jump on, they really do have to find somewhere else to live beside the lawn. Leaves are a common part of lawn maintenance. There are many reasons why you should remove the leaves from the lawn and methods for doing so: It is much healthier for your lawn. This is because if you allow the leaves to pile up on your lawn, they block the sunlight, water, and nutrients from reaching the root system and helping feed your lawn. The lawn needs to breathe but it can't do that if it is covered in leaves. The leaves can even block new grass blades. These leaves may also invite pests and diseases in that are difficult to get rid of. This can lead to mold, brown patches, and lots of insets. Also, it improves the lawn's overall appearance. Lastly, regularly removing the leaves makes for less work than letting them all pile up over time. There are many ways to remove the leaves from your lawn. The first way is to rake them off the lawn. This approach tends to get most leaves that have to be bagged up and removed. It is very labor-intensive. The second is to use a leaf blower, which does the job quickly but is noisy. However, as long as you select a good time to do it, such as mid-day, most people have become accustomed to the sound. Alternatively, you can use a mulching mower that shreds the leaves and turns them into fertilizer. Adding a bag to this mower allows you to collect everything and put it in your compost bin if you have one. Lastly, consider assistance from a professional lawn care maintenance company like Pugh's Earthworks who can take care of leaves, mowing, and fertilizing so you can just enjoy how it looks. Our clients include some of the premier office buildings, hotels, hospitals, churches and cemeteries in the cities we operate. Fall is full of lawn maintenance tasks, including aerating the soil. It is another important job that helps your lawn throughout the year. Below are some of the benefits of aeration for a healthy lawn. First, the soil in the fall season is still warm while the nights are cool, which makes this an ideal time of the year. Then, by aerating your soil, you can enjoy a healthier lawn with stronger roots and overall resiliency to make it through the tough winter months. Also, your lawn should be aerated if it undergoes heavy foot traffic, which can compact the soil. This is why golf courses always undertake regular aeration. Aeration of the soil is also good if it is a new lawn or if your lawn dries out frequently Focus on aerating your lawn anywhere between the end of August and November. During the fall, the grass can heal and fill in many of the open areas that appear during the aeration process. This will help prepare your grass for the spring. The aeration process creates pockets so that air and water can get through to the soil plus also helps to encourage root growth in the spaces that are made. This may also be the time to over seed your lawn as well as fertilize, depending on the state and health of this part of your landscape. Before starting the aeration process, make sure the soil is moist enough. Then, use aeration tools followed by removal of the soil plugs that are created from the process. After aerating the soil you'll need to continue fertilizing, mowing, and watering throughout the fall season. Since aerating the soil can take a lot of time and effort, it is a good idea to call in landscaping professionals to take care of it for you. Contact us now to find out how we can help you during all the seasons of the year so you can focus on your business. Pugh's Earthworks takes customer satisfaction seriously. It will soon be time to get into the Fall commercial landscape mind set and Pugh’s Earthworks will help
Pugh's Earthworks Summer is in the final stages and fall is near by. With every season there are processes and procedures unique to commercial landscape maintenance. Unless you are a trained and certified Landscape Technician like the professionals at Pugh's Earthworks, trying to address all of the landscaping elements of your property is a monumental task. Throughout the year, your lawn, shrubs, plants, and trees go through growth cycles. And, one of these is in the fall and involves something you do not actually see. That is root growth. Root growth is important because it is what provides a steady stream of nutrients and water to the plants, trees, and lawn. The stronger and larger those roots become, the more they can sustain the growth above ground. To focus on root growth in the fall, here is what you should do: Aerate your grass and lawn area. Because people and lawn mowers are constantly compacting the soil beneath the lawn, which makes it difficult for air, nutrients, and water to get to the roots. By aerating it, you will be able to stimulate root growth. You can use a walk-behind aerator to cover larger lawns. Fertilize your lawn during the fall to promote root growth. The fertilizer will nourish the roots. It is best to use a spreader to ensure the fertilizer is evenly spread across the lawn. Also, use special fertilizer for shrubs, trees, and flowers. Apply the fertilizer at the beginning of the fall season and just before the frost sets in. Seed areas that have bare patches. This gives your lawn a chance to build up further strength and add to its root system. Look for grass seed that has a small amount of weed seed mixed in. Be sure to loosen the soil with a rake before laying the seeds down. You will also need to water these areas on a daily basis for a few weeks. Transplant any plants to areas that give them more room to spread their roots out underground. The fall is the perfect time to get this done where temperatures are the most conducive. Remove leaves that have fallen to the ground. These can rot and create issues for the roots by making them sick and blocking passage of water and nutrients to them. You can use a leaf blower or start raking them up into piles to dispose of. Consider saving those leaves up and putting them in a compost bin. This will make great fertilizer later on. We are also here to help by providing all the services you will need this fall to promote root growth and create a sustainable landscape around your property. Contact us now to learn more! Pugh's Earthworks has the best technicians in the industry and will ensure that your commercial property is ready to make the jump from summer heat to cooler fall temperatures. Here are some tips for late summer landscape care: Water as you are able - Some parts of the country are in a severe drought. This makes watering problematic when watering is being restricted. As you are able, try to keep plant containers moist and water the lawn as restrictions allow. Remove old dried blooms from flowers or otherwise called deadheading. By getting rid of the dead and dried blooms you are making way for new grow and plus making the flower beds look more well keep. The same holds true for trees and shrubs. Late summer is a good time for light pruning of dead limbs or over growth. Cleaning of tools is important also so that you do not spread any fungus or other disease from trimming affected trees and shrubs. Late summer can be a great time to re-seed any bare spots in the lawn that have appearing during the hot temperatures of summer. There is a best practice of using the proper amount of sand, fertilizer and seed. A trained landscape technician like those at Pugh's Earthworks will know that proper method. This time of year is perfect for starting to evaluate your landscaping and decide which fall flower bulbs you want to plant in order to add fall color to your flower beds. Lawn insects that can damage your yard have in some cases become well established over the warm summer months. Now is the time to attack insects like grub worms and other grass eating bugs. Pugh's Earthworks is trained in the process of choosing and safely applying the right chemicals to reduce the number of these pests that damage your lawn. The Pugh’s Earthworks professionals will get your commercial property spruced up for Labor Day
Pugh's Earthworks Labor Day weekend, which is September 4th through September 6th this year, is the unofficial end to summer and often filled with end-of-summer barbecues and fun. Whether you are hosting a customer event at your business or an employee picnic, you want to make sure your lawn and outdoor space is ready for the Labor Day celebration. Here are some tips to consider for your lawn care and maintenance as well as any other landscaping featured around your commercial space: Lawn and landscape maintenance isn't just about aesthetics. You also need to think about safety. Look for any holes in your lawn or uneven surfaces that should be filled in so no one twists an ankle or takes a fall. Add in topsoil to fill these holes and levels the surface. If you start looking for these holes a week or so in advance, you can also add some grass seed and water to get the grass growing in those areas again. If pressed for time, you can also add in pieces of sod to level out areas of your lawn. Look for anything that might annoy guests, such as prickly branches, weeds, and pests. If there is still a few weeks, consider hiring a pest control service as well as a company that can remove all the weeds and prickly branches. Don't forget to feed and aerate your lawn. This feeding should be in place for every six to eight weeks. This will help keep it looking green and vibrant. Plus, it will give it strength to withstand all the shoes, chairs, tables, and tents you put on it during your Labor Day event. Maintain a structured watering and mowing process for your lawn to also give it strength And, when the Labor Day celebration is over, you'll most likely have to give that lawn a little love. After all the food, rugs, feet, and action, you'll need to consider if the lawn needs any re-seeding or manicuring. Contact us today to get some special care for your commercial lawn and landscaping before and after your Labor Day festivities. Pugh's Earthworks Big Company Strength and Small Company Values! Your commercial landscape most likely has served you well over the years, offering a professional look. However, like everything, this might be the time to think about a makeover to revitalize that commercial landscape. There are many reasons to consider this change. First, changing the commercial landscape creates new interest for visitors and offers them a fresh, inviting place. Second, the changes in environmental concerns mean you will need to think about water conservation and a move to drought-resistant plants. Third, like the outside of your commercial building, it could just be time for improvements due to age, wear and tear, and weather impact. In all situations, you do not want dead or broken trees and shrubs to impact others' impression of your business. Pugh’s Earthworks has the training to keep your commercial property free from unsightly weeds
Pugh's Earthworks Weeds are so unsightly and a nuisance for any lawn. If you have a commercial property, the last thing you want is for your lawn to be covered with weeds. Customers have a better first impression when they drive up to your property and it is a well manicured and weed free lawn. This is where the professionals at Pugh's Earthworks can help any commercial property owner. Our certified and experienced landscape technicians know how to rid lawns of destructive weeds and maintain a lush healthy lawn. It seems that during the summer months weeds are plentiful. Very true and it could be that you also notice them more because you are spending more time outside. Pugh's Earthworks will apply preemergent during the Spring to prevent the germination of all varieties of weeds. As they say "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Summertime weeds come in numerous varieties which can make treatment different. Here some of the common weeds that pop up during the summer and how our certified professionals would treat them. Crabgrass and Nutsedge - These are grassy type weeds. They tend to blend in better to the normal grass which is their secret to eventually dominating the lawn. A good technique that Pugh's Earthworks may employ is to aerate, water and fertilize the property in the proper quantities and application. This method tends to help the health of the grass you want to grow and it can eventually overtake and smother out the crabgrass. Broadleaf Weeds - There are several types of broadleaf weeds. They tend to stand out more and truly make any lawn appear unkept. They can also be difficult to eradicate. Some of the more common types of broadleaf weeds are Knotweed Spurge, Dandelion, Ground Ivy, and White Clover. There is no mistaking these unsightly plants with their large leaves and often flowers. They clearly to not belong in the commercial landscape. Treating broadleaf weeds can be more difficult. Sometimes if there is not a tremendous infestation you may be able to pull them by hand. Often times it requires the expertise of a trained landscape technician to come in with the proper herbicide and post-emergent control procedures. Handling of these chemicals can be hazardous and not effective if not used properly. That is where the Pugh's Earthworks professionals will come to the rescue. Pugh's Earthworks is a shinning example of a first class landscaping company. We back our performance with a satisfaction guarantee. Pugh’s Earthworks knows that proper Summer watering is critical for the health of Commercial Landscapes
Pugh's Earthworks In some parts of the US, this summer has brought more rain than normal and in other parts more drought than anticipated. Water is such a critical element for life and true for plants as well. However, water not applied in proper quantity or at the wrong time a day can often create more problems. Hiring the professional and certified commercial landscape technicians at Pugh's Earthworks will ensure that your commercial property receives the exact formula of water application to maximize grow and overall health. As the temperatures continue to soar, it's important to have a regular summer watering schedule for your lawn to ensure it can thrive and grow throughout the year. Here are some tips on how to water your lawn during the summer season: You don't need to water your lawn every day in the summer despite thinking it will help in the hot weather. What happens is that the lawn gets over-watered and starts to die. Get to know the soil properties of the area you live in. This tells you a lot about how to water your lawn in the summer and throughout the year. This is because water tends to penetrate soils differently. For example, it is more likely to penetrate sandy or loose soil than clay-based soil. The water should penetrate six to eight inches below the ground surface. Check your overall irrigation system for your lawn to identify any places where water is not regularly reaching that portion of your lawn. Any dry spots will tell you where you need to make changes to your irrigation. Think about what type of grass you have in your lawn as this will also tell you more about how to water it. For example, Tall Fescue has a deep root system. This means it has the highest drought tolerance of all cool-season turf types. Then, Kentucky Bluegrass goes dormant during a drought. Warm-season grasses, which include Zoysia, St. Augustine, Bermuda, and Centipede, tend to thrive in warm conditions. They have a deep root system and require approximately 20% less water than cool-season lawn grasses. The age of your lawn is also an important consideration for determining irrigation frequency. While all lawns need consistent moisture, you need to proceed with caution on newly-planted lawns. Do not rely on rainfall. Instead, you'll need to provide supplemental irrigation during the first year of growth to ensure it develops that deep root system. Focus your watering times on early morning or late afternoon/evening when the sun is not scorching the grass or adding to the water evaporation. As a commercial landscape and maintenance company that is focused on helping local businesses enjoy healthy, beautiful outdoor spaces, we are here to help with your lawn care needs. Contact us, Pugh's Earthworks today and we'll keep your lawn looking lush and green throughout all seasons. Pugh's Earthworks Big Company Strength and Small Company Values! Hiring the professionals at Pugh’s Earthworks ensures you will have the best summer care for your commercial property
Pugh's Earthworks Summer heat can be a tricky issue to deal with. When you hire the certified professional landscaping company, Pugh's Earthworks, you can rest easy that your commercial landscape will receive the best care possible. Below are some of the routine rules of summer landscaping that will be handled by Pugh's Earthworks. Summer Commercial Landscaping When it comes to each season of the year, there are things you want to do and avoid with landscaping. In following these rules of landscaping, you will find that certain actions promote the beauty and growth of a lawn, greenery, and flowers while others do not. To help your own landscape this summer, here are some guidelines, starting with your summer lawn. Things you should do: DO think ahead when it comes to fertilizing your lawn. Planning a specific time for it will make sure you feed it appropriately and maintain its lush look the whole year round. DO use organic lawn food that offers the best nutrients for your lawn. Read all the directions before putting it on your lawn. DO have a plan for what to plant and where. Think about what gets sun and shade as well as where water can automatically reach your plants and flowers. Then, plant accordingly. This plan will save you money and increase the chances of a beautiful look. DO try something new like a different type of flower or shrub to add new interest to your overall aesthetic. DO use drought-tolerant plants and look to add as much as possible that doesn't require as much water. DO bring in a specialist or professional for your commercial landscape so you can enjoy the look without having to do all the work. Contact us today to learn more! Things to avoid: DO NOT burn your lawn by putting down fertilizer when it is hot and dry. Be sure to add plenty of water to keep the grass moist when fertilizing. If too hot outside, it is better to wait on fertilizing your lawn. DO NOT let your lawn go dormant by letting the grass die down. It takes a lot to make it come back. Or, it may not come back at all. That will mean more money and time you don't want to spend. DO NOT overdo what you are planting. Keep it natural with the flowers, trees, and plants as well as accessories like pathways and fountains rather than put too much. Pugh's Earthworks management does not cut corners with staffing, equipment and hiring of vendors to help their company stand out.
